Great Place To Work® is the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience, and the leadership behaviours proven to deliver employee retention. It is the only recognition based entirely on what employees report about their workplace experience – specifically, how consistently they experience a high-trust workplace.

LWA excelled across various scoring criteria, with key achievements including:

  • 99% of respondents said they feel good about the way LWA contributes to the community
  • 99% of respondents said they feel a sense of pride when they look at what LWA accomplishes
  • 99% of respondents said their work has a special meaning, it’s not ‘just a job’

Other positive results demonstrated LWA’s commitment to inclusivity, with over 95% of respondents reporting that LWA people are all treated fairly, regardless of age, sexual orientation or race.

Sarah Lewis-Kulin, the Vice President of Global Recognition at Great Place To Work, said:

“Great Place to Work Certification is a highly coveted achievement that requires consistent and intentional dedication to the overall employee experience. By successfully earning this recognition, it is evident that Leeds Women’s Aid stands out as one of the top companies to work for, providing a great workplace environment for its employees.”

Louise Sanderson, Head of People and Culture at Leeds Women’s Aid, said:

“LWA being recognised as a great place to work isn’t just a certification to us, it’s a reflection of the culture we’ve created together. The immense pride our team takes in their work highlights our dedication to providing outstanding, life-changing services for women and families.

This certification shows that our people feel valued, supported and inspired, and that is one of our greatest achievements for our organisation.”

According to Great Place To Work research, job seekers are 4.5 times more likely to find a great boss at a Certified great workplace. Additionally, employees at Certified workplaces are 93% more likely to look forward to coming to work, and are twice as likely to be paid fairly, earn a fair share of the company’s profits and have a fair chance at promotion.

Leeds Women’s Aid commitment to positive work culture can also be demonstrated by annual team building away days, celebration events and its employee-led Wellbeing Committee, working to promote positive mental health, work-life balance, and a supportive work culture, regularly running employee activities and events.
