Donate Items

When women and families arrive at the refuge they usually have very little in the way of possessions, part of our support involves providing them essential items to help them settle in and feel comfortable.

Christmas 2024

We have launched an Amazon Wishlist for those wanting to purchase gifts for families staying in refuge this Christmas. Any gift makes a huge difference and helps women and children staying with us to feel more at home.

Fundraising

Our fundraisers make a huge difference. It’s easy to organise your own fundraising on behalf of Leeds Women’s Aid and we’re here every step of the way with ideas and support to make it a success! If you would like to organise your own fundraising event or raise funds on our behalf through an organised activity, please email [email protected]

Over the years, we’ve been amazed by the wonderful fundraising ideas our supporters have come up with from bake sales to sponsored walks, runs and swims to daredevil challenges to taking part in Dry January or Stoptober.

Whether it’s an event or a sponsored challenge, tell us all about it and we’ll help you plan your fundraising and give you lots of support along the way. We can also provide materials such as Leeds Women’s Aid t-shirts, collection boxes and flyers.

You can also dedicate your fundraising to our appeal to raise money for a new children and young people’s hub at our emergency refuge. To learn more about this appeal, visit: Our Appeal.

A Gift in Your Will: Leaving a Legacy

Making a Will ensures that your loved ones are cared for and that your wishes are respected. Once you’ve secured the future of those you care about most, you may consider leaving a gift in your will to support Leeds Women’s Aid. With a gift in your will, we can continue to offer safe havens and essential support services to those in need.

“I’ve felt so empowered to make my own choices. You’ve helped me so much, and if you make the difference to others that you made for me, you must be a life-changing service.”

How to Leave a Gift in Your Will

Making or updating your Will is straightforward and can be done through a solicitor. Here are a few ways to leave a gift:

Residuary Gift (a percentage of your estate): After providing for your loved ones, you can leave a percentage of what remains to Leeds Women’s Aid.

Pecuniary Gift (a fixed amount of money): You can choose to leave a specific sum, which can be as small or as large as you like.

Specific Gift (an item of value): You may leave a particular item, such as jewellery, a work of art, or shares.

If you already have a Will, you can easily update it with a simple document called a codicil. Please consult a qualified solicitor to ensure your wishes are properly carried out.

Support Us Through Your Workplace

There are various ways you can support us through your workplace.

Organise a fundraiser

Get your colleagues involved in a fundraiser (cake sale or sponsored walk/run).

Collect donations for refuge

Support us through collecting donations for the refuge, information on items needed can be found on Give today.

Collection box
Support us by having a collection box in your workplace. We will contact you every few months to check if the box needs changing and arrange a collection and drop off point.
Workplace volunteering
If your company allows you and your colleague’s time off work to volunteer for a local charity, then we can host teams of corporate volunteers at LWA, helping us in all sorts of ways from tidying the gardens to redecorating units in our refuges.
Payroll giving

Payroll Giving (also known as give as you earn or workplace giving) is a valuable, long term source of revenue, providing regular income to help charities budget and plan ahead more effectively. It’s very simple to sign up for payroll giving.

Payroll Giving is a flexible scheme which allows anyone who pays UK income tax to give regularly and on a tax free basis to the charities and good causes of their choice.  Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax so each £1.00 you give will only cost you 80p, and if you’re a higher rate tax payer it will only cost you 60p.
