Leeds Women’s Aid and Leeds Domestic Violence Service have achieved the National Quality Standards Accreditation awarded by Women’s Aid Federation of England (WAFE) for 2025-2028.

WAFE National Quality Standards accreditation recognises and represents the work of specialist women-led domestic abuse services in England, and the unique value and high-level impact member organisations deliver in offering dedicated life-saving services that centre the needs and voices of survivors.

Operations Director at Leeds Women’s Aid, which delivers several of Leeds Domestic Violence Service’ support services, Janice Fife, said:

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Women’s Aid National Quality Mark. This achievement is a testament to the dedication, skill, and compassion of Leeds Women’s Aid’s incredible workers and leaders. The accreditation recognises that we meet the highest standards across all areas of our work – including trauma-informed practice, service user involvement, equality and rights, safety and respect, leadership, and accountability.

A huge thank you and congratulations to the team for this outstanding accomplishment.”

Throughout the award process the feedback Leeds Women’s Aid and Leeds Domestic Violence Service received from the WAFE panel was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the inclusive and trauma-informed approach to support.

Highlights of this feedback include:

“The dedication of the Leeds Women’s Aid team is evident in their specialist knowledge, values-driven approach, and consistent ability to create a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment where survivors feel listened to, respected, and supported.”

“Women often describe the service as the first place they’ve felt truly listened to and taken seriously.”

“Leeds Women’s Aid places lived experience at the centre of their strategy, services, and partnerships and holds a particular strength around inclusive and holistic support; they competently respond to the needs of older, disabled, neurodivergent, and complex-needs survivors – empowering recovery, resilience, and long-term independence.”
